Photoshop Friday- Fun Friends

February 25, 2011

Meet Mr. Giraffe.  He is my little creation I dreamed up while playing in photoshop.  Yes, photoshop is great for playing with actual pictures, but what about creating some cute art?  Oh, yes sir-eeee! If you would like to walk through the steps to create your own one-of-a-kind cartoon friend then keep reading.  It is a fun creative art project for those of us incapable of drawing or painting with ‘real’ paints and pencils.  :)  Hope you enjoy this tutorial!

Step: 1- I took the paint brush tool and simply drew my guy.  Now, I am no artist, but because photoshop is so forgiving anyone can create a cute cartoon friend.  If you mess up that is what the amazing eraser tool is for! :)

Step 2:  As you can see he needed a bright fun background so using the ‘fill’ tool which looks like the little paint bucket, I decided on a bright red, clicked and voila….instant color.  Now, to add a little texture to it, I then went in and placed a texture over the entire thing and again with my eraser tool, erased the texture from the giraffe, so all that remained was some texture  over my red background. Side Note:  Not sure why it is showing up orange on here, but it is still the bright red.

Step 3:  I decided I wanted to give him a little texture, so I found a cute green polka dot paper and once I placed it over my giraffe, I simply erased all of the areas except for the ones I wanted to be green polka dotted.  Easy peasy!

Step 4:  And finally, I picked another color that I thought would work well with my chosen color palette and, once again, used the paint bucket to fill in his spots, head, etc.

So, there you have it….

Just to spotlight him even more I placed him here in this template at different sizes to show off his cuteness.   And, why stop with one little guy when there are SO many that you can play with!

Enjoy your creativity today, and if you liked this little photoshop project please ‘Like’ it at the top of this post.  Thanks so much!!!

Be Mine.

What a wonderful Valentines Day this year! Jonathan and I dressed Gracie up in the sweetest little tutu that my sister made for her and headed to the park for Gracie’s first Valentines Day!  We had a picnic, we played, and of course, took pictures! It was a beautiful windy day that was full of laughter and love and my two favorite people. Perfect.

Photoshop Friday

February 11, 2011

It’s another Friday full of photoshop fun! In honor of Valentine’s Day coming up I decided to photograph the “love” banner I made for my family’s upcoming photo shoot.  The first image is straight out of the camera.

Here is the end result.  This is after cropping the image, rotating it slightly, using a black and white action, and adding some color to the hearts.  I love playing with images in photoshop!  It’s fun getting creative!

Photoshop Friday

February 4, 2011

So, once again it is time for a photo that has been ‘tweaked’ by a little photoshop magic.  Although most of our photos are touched by photoshop, there are others that we really play with and try to push the creative envelope.  For this Photoshop Friday I chose to show you a photo of my sweet nephew that I grunged up a bit.

Here is the original photo.

And here it is after giving it a nice vintage action and playing with the burn tool.

And finally, the end result after overlaying two textures and playing with their opacities.  I just love the contrast of the beauty of  the setting and the worn grunge of the textures.  LOVE!  Whoever says photography is all business needs to learn to play with their pictures!!! Have fun!

Photoshop Friday

January 28, 2011

Photoshop Friday. This is a fun new twist on typical photos. We started this to a.) be more creative b.) improve our photoshop skills and c.) make funny pictures of our loved ones. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

This is how it started. Cool picture of a flying seagull.

This is the end result. Gracie riding on the flying seagull in a magical land.
.
This photo was made by cutting and pasting images together, as well as blending several pictures. We’ll be posting more images each Friday, so stay tuned for more photoshop fun!

Valentine Love

January 21, 2011

I ‘heart’ these pictures!!! I love bold bright colors with a vintage look to them, and throw in my sweet son and his awesome expressions and you’ve got one fun photo shoot.  I love any excuse to grab some fun props, get outside and start shooting. So, in honor of valentine’s day I thought I would post these pictures.  What I really love about the art of photography is that the sky is the limit!  You can turn ordinary pictures into creative expressions just by a little imagination!  So, I hope you have a wonderful valentine’s day, and snap a few creative shots of the ones you love.

Rockstin Party 2010

January 15, 2011

Whenever we have the privilege of hanging out with this amazing group of girls, whether in Austin, or Rockwall, or a crazy creepy Parrot Bungalow, amazing memories are made. Last year we decided to create a photo booth in the hotel room. We put on some flashy accessories, cranked up the music, and snapped pictures along the way! I mean seriously, how fun are these girls?!!!!!

Apple of My Eye

January 12, 2011

We had the privilege of taking photos for the precious Owen’s Family. Their little girl Olivia is an absolute doll! She was such a trooper in the cold weather and seemed to really like the apples we had for the shoot. This beautiful family is gorgeous inside and out.
